The Role: Jr. Smart Contract Engineer
We’re hiring a Junior Smart Contract Engineer to join the UMA protocol team. You’ll collaborate with world-class engineers on UMA’s Optimistic Oracle and related products. This role is ideal for someone eager to master blockchain systems, smart contract security, and DeFi architecture.
Your Work
Protocol Design: Research and build protocol upgrades and new financial primitives.
Smart Contracts: Implement secure, gas-efficient, and user-friendly contracts.
Code Review: Contribute to an open-source ecosystem through code reviews and mentorship.
Automation: Build and maintain off-chain bots to interact with and manage contracts.
As a junior engineer, you’ll be supported to grow rapidly — learning core DeFi concepts like oracles, MEV, governance, and OEV.
Tech Stack: Typescript, Solidity, GCP.
Requirements
2+ years of engineering experience (internships count) with solid software development practices.
1+ years working on blockchain-related projects (personal or professional).
Familiarity with databases, networking, and data pipelines preferred.
Strong problem-solving, curiosity, and a willingness to learn fast.
Passion for blockchain, protocol design, and decentralized finance.
Growth mindset with strong written communication and collaboration skills.
Excitement about AI’s evolving role in software and blockchain development.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $100K–$200K USD + meaningful token options.
Payment: Stablecoins or fiat.

Work: Fully remote, with 3–4 hours of EST overlap for collaboration.
