Product Designer - Onchain Trading at Kraken

About the Team

This role joins Kraken’s Onchain Strike Team, an elite group building the next generation of DeFi-integrated products. The team’s mission is to close the gap between centralized exchanges (CEX) and decentralized finance (DeFi), rapidly taking ideas from 0→1 and setting new benchmarks for innovation and user experience in crypto trading.

Role Overview

As Product Designer – Onchain Trading, you’ll lead the design of entirely new onchain products, combining exceptional UX craft, visual innovation, and data-driven decision-making. You’ll help shape how millions of users experience the onchain trading ecosystem through products that redefine the relationship between DeFi and CEX.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design of new product concepts for onchain trading and DeFi experiences.

• Develop and own the visual direction of Kraken’s onchain products, ensuring alignment with brand and user needs.

• Collaborate with research, product management, engineering, and content teams to deliver exceptional, insight-driven user experiences.

• Translate business goals, customer insights, and technical constraints into practical, elegant design outcomes.

• Conduct user testing, design reviews, and iteration cycles to validate and refine UX decisions.

• Mentor other designers and foster a culture of creative excellence and high standards.

• Track emerging trends in DeFi and user behavior to inform design direction and product evolution.

Qualifications

• Expert in UX strategy, prototyping, and solving complex design challenges.

• Proven experience shipping 0→1 products in onchain, DeFi, or crypto environments.

• Deep understanding of Ethereum and decentralized workflows.

• Knowledge of financial and trading platforms—including derivatives, perpetuals, and pro trading terminals.

• Strong communication and presentation skills, able to articulate design intent and rationale to cross-functional stakeholders.

• Collaborative, open-minded, and research-driven approach to problem-solving.

• Experience leading design initiatives across mobile and web.

• Highly organized and proactive with a bias toward action and design ownership.
