About the Team
The Finance team at Kraken manages the company’s liquidity, risk, and capital structure while ensuring regulatory compliance, financial reporting, and audit readiness. Within this group, the Platform Accounting team plays a pivotal role in the financial accounting and reporting of a diverse portfolio of products including fiat, digital assets, futures, margin, options, and new innovations.
The team also oversees Over-the-Counter (OTC) operations for high-net-worth and institutional clients. It is a dynamic, high-performance unit known for its collaboration, precision, and continuous improvement mindset, contributing directly to Kraken’s mission of scaling the global adoption of cryptocurrency.
Role Overview
The Platform Accounting Analyst supports Kraken’s month-end close and reporting processes, focusing on digital asset and fiat reconciliations, financial controls, and audit support.
You’ll work cross-functionally with business partners, finance leads, and auditors to ensure accuracy and transparency across accounting functions. This role also provides opportunities to automate reconciliation processes, enhance reporting efficiency, and strengthen Kraken’s financial systems as the company continues to grow.
This is a fully remote position open to candidates based in U.S. time zones (Pacific to Eastern).
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily and monthly reconciliations for fiat and digital assets across banks, wallets, and exchange platforms.
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for month-end close activities.
Research and resolve discrepancies, communicating outcomes to stakeholders across finance and operations.
Support financial and regulatory audits by providing accurate and timely documentation.
Ensure compliance with US GAAP and multi-jurisdictional regulatory standards.
Develop and refine reconciliation workflows for greater automation and efficiency.
Maintain and review daily, monthly, and annual financial reconciliations.
Contribute to internal process documentation and strengthen control environments.
Participate in ad hoc analyses and financial projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
2+ years of accounting or audit experience (Big 4 or national accounting firm preferred).
Solid knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance.
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP).
Strong organizational and analytical abilities with attention to detail.
Collaborative and adaptable in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
Nice to Haves
CPA in good standing.
Experience in crypto, financial services, fintech, broker-dealer, or banking sectors.
Working knowledge of SQL and NetSuite.
Understanding of cryptocurrency accounting principles and high-volume transactions.
