Job Summary
Coinbase is hiring a Fund Lead to drive investments and strategic insights for the Base Ecosystem Fund (BEF) under Coinbase Ventures. The role blends research, early-stage investment work, and ecosystem development. As a visible presence in the crypto builder community, you’ll identify and back top projects aligned with Base’s vision of bringing millions of developers and users onchain. You’ll also contribute to firm operations and product strategy, shaping the growth of the Base platform.
Key Responsibilities
Represent BEF in the Base and broader crypto ecosystem by building relationships with founders, builders, and investors.
Conduct deep thematic research and data analysis to inform investment strategy and detect trends across the onchain economy.
Become a subject matter expert across key verticals, contributing to both BEF decisions and Coinbase’s overall product vision.
Support and optimize internal BEF operational processes and platforms.
Work cross-functionally with Coinbase teams, from legal to product and engineering.
Requirements
5+ years of experience in either:
A high-analytical role (VC, PE, consulting, banking) focused on emerging tech.
A technical/product role in crypto (e.g., engineer, PM).
Strong knowledge of the crypto ecosystem and an “onchain-native” background.
Sharp investment judgment with the ability to identify future-defining crypto projects.
Excellent communication and research synthesis skills.
Comfort working across functions and advising early-stage startups.
Interest in publishing insights or leading thought within the ecosystem.
Preferred (Nice to Have)
Experience in crypto venture capital or web2 VC.
Exposure to crypto infrastructure or consumer-facing products.
Familiarity with blockchain analytics tools like Dune.
Prior investing or due diligence experience in early-stage startups.
