Token & Governance Research Specialist at Base

Overview

Lead the token and governance design for Base to evolve as a decentralized, credibly neutral, and impactful public good. You’ll define frameworks, build tools, and work across legal, technical, and community lines to operationalize governance for a billion-user, global onchain economy.

Core Responsibilities

• Design Token & Governance Frameworks: Define token goals, phase decentralization roadmaps, and build transparent governance structures (e.g., Base constitution, legislative processes).

• Research & Modeling: Analyze token designs, learn from past ecosystems, create tradeoff frameworks, and simulate outcomes.

• Operationalize Governance: Build voting systems, consensus processes, and legislative tooling—both onchain and offchain.

• Community Enablement: Create docs, tutorials, forums, and tools to empower contributors and drive user participation in governance.

• Regulatory Alignment: Partner with legal and risk teams to responsibly decentralize Base while staying compliant.

Key Qualifications

• Deep interest in token economics, DAO governance, or decentralized systems.

• Strong project management skills; capable of aligning diverse stakeholders and managing ambiguity.

• Able to think strategically and create clarity in complex governance landscapes.

Preferred (Nice to Haves)

• Experience with DAO design, community education, or implementing governance tools.

• Background in onchain community management, especially for non-technical audiences.
